Anti Violence: How to Prevent Fights in the Classroom

What is violence? The Oxford Dictionary says violence is" physical force that does harm or damage. Fighting and bullying are examples of violence. My paper will discuss how to prevent fights in the classroom.

There are many ways to prevent fights in the classroom. One of the ways is that if someone hurts you, tell the teacher instead of hitting them. If the teacher isn’t there wait until the teacher comes back to the classroom. If they continue, you can tell the teacher next door. If she or he isn't there and the teacher left a kid in charge tell that kid. If a child wasn't left in charge, you can go to the principal. If the principal isn't there you can go to another teacher.

The second way is that you can tell the person that is hurting you to stop it firmly. If he/she continues then you tell him/her even more firmly to not hurt you. "Do not hurt me or else!" But when you say it, do it as an imperative sentence strongly, but do not shout that loud because you will disturb the other students in the school.

The third way is that you can ignore them. If you ignore them, they will get bored and leave you alone. If you have to say something, make sure it is in a kind, mannerly and respectful way. If it is not one of those ways, you will get in to trouble too and if that happens you need to take full responsibility. How do you ignore them? What you can do is that you can take up a book, you can revise, you can do an activity book like a wordsearch or crossword puzzle or just put your head down and close your eyes. If it is too hard to ignore them you can tell them to leave you alone. Only say it in a kind way. Otherwise, it will be disrespectful and you too will get in to trouble. When a person wants you to fight, try your best to ignore him/her.

Before I tell you my fourth way, I want to tell you why it is bad to be fighting in the classroom, or anywhere on the whole entire galaxy. Fighting can affect the other person. It will make them feel unsafe and unhappy. What you can do is that when you are about to fight, think about why are you fighting. Is it true? Is it hurtful? Is it wrong? Do you need to fight? Is it kind to fight? Think about those things. When you think about all those things, think about why you want to be fighting. When you are done, consider if it is now necessary to be fighting.

Now I will tell you my fourth way to prevent fights. Always remember to treat one another as you want to be treated. For example, if you want to be treated nicely, treat the other person nicely. If you treat someone badly, you too will be treated badly. How can you treat your classmate nicely? Sharing, do not tease your classmate and help your classmate instead of bullying.

All of those ways can be used to prevent fights in the classroom.
